CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
De La Salle College offers many co—curricular opportunities for students
throughout the year, including:
- MUSIC - Instrumental and Vocal Performance as well as Instrumental Music
Tuition.
- CHOIR and BAND.
- VISUAL ARTS - Community, National and International Art Competitions as
well as the Annual College Art Exhibition.
- PHOTOGRAPHY Club.
- DRAMA - Many performances and competitions, including an annual College
Production, Theatre Club, Shakespearian Competition, etc.
- SCHOOL MAGAZINE - Editorial Group.
- COMPUTER CLUB.
- SPORT - Inter-school competitions in many sports (M.C.C.) with regular try-outs
as well as in-school sports on Thursdays. The College also enters teams in
M.C.C. Swimming, Cross-Country, Athletics, Golf and Volleyball.
- GIFTED and TALENTED group.
- DEBATING: As an activity during sport and the Catholic Schools Debating
Competition as well as the Macquarie Schools Cup.
- PUBLIC SPEAKING.
- SOCIAL JUSTICE ACTION GROUP.
- UNITED NATIONS YOUTH FORUM
- MOCK TRIAL - competing against other schools.
- DUKE of EDINBURGH’S AWARD scheme.
- St. JOHN’S AMBULANCE - First Aid.
- SCIENCE Club.
- LASALLIAN YOUTH LEADERS.
- TOURNAMENT of the MINDS competition.
- STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL - with elected leaders from each class from
Year 7 to Year 12.
Additionally, there is a range of curriculum based competitions such as the
Australian Stock Exchange Competition; the Australian English Competition and
the National Science and Mathematics Competitions.
At De La Salle, we believe in educating the whole person and so we encourage students to become involved in a full range of learning experiences.
